Another HVAC company told a Blaine family their furnace was bad and needed to be replaced. We came out for a second opinion. Inspected the whole system top to bottom. Found nothing wrong with it. Nothing.
Yes, it was 25 years old. And yes, that's getting up there in age. But old and broken are two completely different things. We told them exactly that. We weren't going to sell them a furnace they didn't need just to hit a number.
Here's where it gets good - they called us back later and said, 'Let's do it anyway. I trust you.' That's the kind of thing that means everything to us. So we did the install, and we did it right. We corrected a sloppy existing transition and replaced the filter assembly while we were at it. And once we had that old furnace pulled out and sitting on the floor where we could really get a good look at it? Still nothing wrong with it.
There's a real difference between telling someone 'your furnace is aging and you should start thinking about replacement' and telling someone 'your furnace is bad and has to go' when it doesn't. One is honest advice. The other is fear-based selling. This industry has too much of the second one already.
We'd rather walk away from a sale than lie to make one. That's not a marketing line - it's just how we operate. Thank you to the Payne family in Blaine for giving us the chance to earn that trust.
